The Guardians Tribe Membership Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: 15 August 2026
Last Updated: 15 August 2026

1. Contract

1.1 Agreement to Terms

By registering for an account, accessing, or using The Guardians Tribe platform, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms and Conditions. This agreement sets out the framework that governs your relationship with The Guardians Tribe and with other members of the community, including Homeowners and Guardians.

By using the platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of this agreement, you must stop using the platform immediately.

1.2 Legal Age & Capacity to Contract

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the services of The Guardians Tribe.

By signing up, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

Individuals under 18 are not permitted to create or independently operate an account. They may accompany a parent or legal guardian during a guardianship stay where this has been agreed with the Homeowner, with the parent or legal guardian taking full responsibility for them.

1.3 Nature of the Agreement

This agreement is legally binding between you and The Guardians Tribe. It sets out the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of members when using the platform.

The Guardians Tribe is a mutual-exchange house and pet sitting platform. We do not employ Guardians, directly provide house or pet sitting services, or manage guardianship stays on behalf of members.

The Guardians Tribe facilitates introductions between Homeowners and Guardians so that they can arrange mutual-exchange house and pet sitting stays directly with one another.

Guardianship stays arranged through The Guardians Tribe are based on mutual exchange. Guardians provide agreed home and pet care in exchange for accommodation and the opportunity to experience a different location. The Guardians Tribe does not facilitate paid house or pet sitting arrangements through the platform.

Any guardianship stay agreement is made directly between the Homeowner and Guardian. The Guardians Tribe is not a party to that agreement.

Members are responsible for carrying out appropriate checks, communicating openly, agreeing the details of the guardianship stay and ensuring that the arrangement is suitable before confirming it.

1.4 Updates & Modifications

The Guardians Tribe may update or amend these Terms from time to time.

Where significant changes are made, we will notify members through email, announcements on the platform, or notices on the website.

By continuing to use the platform after updated Terms take effect, you agree to the revised Terms. Members are encouraged to review the Terms regularly.

1.5 Member Responsibilities & Compliance

Members agree to:

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations in the country or jurisdiction relevant to their use of the platform and any guardianship stay.
  • Act honestly, respectfully and responsibly when using the platform.
  • Provide accurate and truthful information to The Guardians Tribe and other members.
  • Avoid fraud, deliberate misrepresentation or unlawful behaviour.
  • Use The Guardians Tribe for its intended purpose as a mutual-exchange house and pet sitting community.
  • Comply with the trust, safety, verification and insurance requirements set out within these Terms.

Any member who breaches these Terms may have their account restricted, suspended or permanently removed. Serious breaches may result in immediate action without the application of the standard three-strike process.

1.6 Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

The Guardians Tribe is a global community. However, this agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.

In the event of a dispute between members, including between a Homeowner and Guardian, The Guardians Tribe is not responsible for resolving the dispute but may, at its discretion, provide reasonable guidance or assistance.

Members should attempt to resolve disagreements fairly and directly wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Any legal dispute involving The Guardians Tribe itself will be subject to the jurisdiction provisions contained within these Terms.

1.7 Termination of Contract

Members may close their account at any time by contacting support or using the account deletion option where available.

The Guardians Tribe reserves the right to restrict, suspend or terminate an account where a member:

  • Breaches these Terms or associated community policies.
  • Provides false or materially misleading information.
  • Engages in fraudulent, unlawful, abusive or harmful conduct.
  • Misuses the platform or its member community.
  • Acts in a way that materially undermines community trust or safety.
  • Uses the platform for unauthorised commercial, promotional, solicitation or recruitment purposes.
  • Misuses member information, relationships, listings, messaging or other platform resources.
  • Creates a material risk to the security, integrity or legitimate operation of The Guardians Tribe.

Depending on the seriousness of the circumstances, action may be taken immediately and without prior warning.

When an account is terminated, access to the platform and applicable membership benefits will end. Any treatment of referral rewards or commissions will be governed by the separate referral provisions contained within these Terms.

1.8 Acknowledgment

By creating an account, you acknowledge and accept these Terms and Conditions. You agree that:

  • This agreement is legally binding.
  • You understand your rights, obligations and responsibilities as a member.
  • The Guardians Tribe operates as a mutual-exchange house and pet sitting platform.
  • You accept responsibility for the guardianship stays and arrangements you make with other members.
  • The Guardians Tribe is not a party to agreements made between Homeowners and Guardians.
  • The Guardians Tribe is not responsible for disputes, losses or outcomes arising from arrangements between members, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

2. Overview of Services

2.1 About The Guardians Tribe

The Guardians Tribe is a global mutual-exchange house and pet sitting community that connects Homeowners (“Homeowners”) with house and pet sitters (“Guardians”).

Our mission is to make house and pet sitting safer, more responsible and more connected while building a community rooted in trust, respect and shared values.

The Guardians Tribe acts as an introductory platform. We do not directly provide house or pet sitting services, employ Guardians, or manage guardianship stays on behalf of members.

All guardianship stays are arranged directly between Homeowners and Guardians on a mutual-exchange basis.

The Guardians Tribe is privately owned and family-led. In time, it may be placed within a private family trust to help protect its independence and founding values for future generations.

2.2 Scope of Services

Through The Guardians Tribe platform, members can:

  • Create Homeowner Listings – Homeowners can create listings for their home and pet care requirements and connect with suitable Guardians.
  • Create Guardian Listings – Guardians can create profiles and listings showing their experience, availability, preferences and intended locations, as well as search and apply for suitable Homeowner listings.
  • Arrange Mutual-Exchange Stays – Homeowners and Guardians can communicate directly and agree guardianship stays based on mutual exchange.
  • Access Trust & Safety Features – Members can access verification features, insurance status information, reviews, training indicators and other trust measures made available through the platform.
  • Referral & Rewards – Eligible members may participate in The Guardians Tribe referral programme and receive rewards or commissions for qualifying referrals in accordance with the applicable referral terms.
  • Community Connection – Members can connect, share experiences, access resources and support one another within The Guardians Tribe community.

The Guardians Tribe does not facilitate paid house or pet sitting arrangements between Homeowners and Guardians through the platform.

The Guardians Tribe is open to members worldwide. All members are responsible for understanding and complying with any visa, immigration, entry, residency, work, volunteering, insurance, permit or other legal requirements that apply within the country, state or region in which they choose to travel, sit or host.

Requirements vary between jurisdictions and may change over time.

The Guardians Tribe does not provide immigration, visa, insurance or legal advice and does not determine whether a member is legally entitled to enter, remain in, or undertake particular activities within any jurisdiction.

Participation in the platform and any guardianship stay remains subject to applicable local laws and regulations.

2.3 Member Roles

The Guardians Tribe is a peer-to-peer mutual-exchange platform. Members participate under one or more of the following roles:

  • Homeowners: Members seeking a suitable Guardian to care for their home and, where applicable, their pets while they are away.
  • Guardians: Members who provide agreed house and pet care in exchange for accommodation and the experience of staying in the Homeowner’s location.
  • Dual Members: Members who participate as both a Homeowner and a Guardian.

No employment relationship is created between The Guardians Tribe and a Guardian, or between a Homeowner and Guardian, merely through membership or use of the platform.

2.4 Platform Limitations & Disclaimer

The Guardians Tribe acts as an introductory platform and does not:

  • Guarantee that a Homeowner or Guardian will find a suitable match.
  • Guarantee the conduct, suitability, reliability or performance of any member.
  • Employ Guardians or directly provide house or pet sitting services.
  • Become a party to guardianship stay agreements made between members.
  • Provide insurance cover to members.
  • Guarantee that a member’s insurance will cover a particular guardianship stay or claim.
  • Guarantee the accuracy of information supplied by another member beyond the checks The Guardians Tribe has actually undertaken.
  • Accept responsibility for agreements made privately between Homeowners and Guardians, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Members remain responsible for carrying out appropriate checks, communicating openly, reviewing relevant information and agreeing the details of a guardianship stay before confirming it.

2.5 Code of Conduct & Trust Measures

To support a safer and more responsible community, The Guardians Tribe operates a range of trust and safety measures, which may include:

  • Identity Verification – Members must complete the identity verification requirements applicable to their membership before accessing certain platform features.
  • Insurance Verification – Where insurance is required, members must provide appropriate evidence. Any insurance status displayed on a profile reflects only the cover The Guardians Tribe has been able to verify and does not guarantee that a particular stay or claim will be covered.
  • Reviews & Feedback – Following a guardianship stay, members may leave honest feedback about their experience.
  • Training & Qualifications – Relevant training, qualifications or certifications may be displayed on member profiles where available and verified.
  • Community Standards – Members are expected to behave honestly, respectfully and responsibly and to comply with these Terms and applicable platform policies.

Verification, badges, reviews, qualifications or other trust indicators are intended to help members make informed decisions. They do not constitute a guarantee or endorsement of a member by The Guardians Tribe.

2.6 Continuous Improvements

The Guardians Tribe is committed to continuously developing and improving the platform.

Features, tools, membership benefits, trust and safety measures, training opportunities, partnerships and other services may be introduced, changed or withdrawn as the platform develops.

2.7 Family Ownership & Legacy

The Guardians Tribe is privately owned and operated by its founders.

Plans may be made for the business to be held or protected through an appropriate family ownership or trust structure in the future, with the intention of preserving its independence, values and long-term family stewardship.

Any future change to the ownership or legal structure of The Guardians Tribe will be carried out in accordance with applicable law.

3. Registration and Accounts

3.1 Account Registration Requirements

To use The Guardians Tribe platform, members must register for an account and provide accurate, complete and truthful information.

By creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate personal and contact information.
  • Keep your profile, listing and account information reasonably up to date.
  • Provide truthful information about your experience, availability, household, pets, insurance, qualifications, references and any other information relevant to your use of the platform.
  • Accept responsibility for activity carried out through your account.
  • Notify The Guardians Tribe where information previously supplied for verification purposes materially changes.

Members must not knowingly provide false, misleading or materially incomplete information to The Guardians Tribe or to other members.

The Guardians Tribe may request additional information or evidence where reasonably necessary for trust, safety, verification, insurance or account integrity purposes.

Providing false or materially misleading information may result in restriction, suspension or termination of membership.

3.2 Account Types & Eligibility

The Guardians Tribe offers the following membership types:

  • Homeowner Membership – for members seeking Guardians to care for their home and, where applicable, their pets.
  • Guardian Membership – for members participating as Guardians within the mutual-exchange house and pet sitting community.
  • Dual Membership – for members who wish to participate as both a Homeowner and Guardian.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

Individuals under 18 may not independently register or operate an account. They may accompany a parent or legal guardian on a guardianship stay where this has been agreed with the Homeowner.

3.3 Verification

To support trust and safety within the community, members must complete the verification requirements applicable to their membership.

Verification may include:

  • Government-issued identification.
  • Email and telephone verification.
  • Insurance documentation.
  • References.
  • Qualifications or training certificates.
  • Other information reasonably required to verify a member or a trust and safety claim displayed on their profile.

Verification confirms only that The Guardians Tribe has reviewed the information or evidence made available to us for the stated purpose.

Verification does not guarantee the future conduct, suitability, reliability or performance of any member.

Members must provide genuine, current and unaltered documents where evidence is requested.

Accounts that do not complete required verification may have their access restricted or suspended.

3.4 Account Rules

To protect the community, members agree to the following:

  • One Account Per Person – Members must not create multiple or duplicate accounts to bypass restrictions, disciplinary action or membership requirements.
  • Honest Profiles & Listings – Information contained within profiles, listings and communications must be truthful and must not deliberately mislead other members.
  • No Account Sharing or Sale – Accounts are personal and non-transferable unless The Guardians Tribe expressly agrees otherwise.
  • Genuine Platform Use – Accounts must be used genuinely for participation in The Guardians Tribe mutual-exchange house and pet sitting community.
  • No Misrepresentation – Members must not misrepresent their identity, experience, insurance, qualifications, references, circumstances or intentions.
  • No Fraudulent or Harmful Use – Accounts must not be used for fraud, deception, harassment, unlawful activity or conduct that creates an unreasonable risk to another member, pet, property or The Guardians Tribe.

3.5 Platform Purpose, Solicitation & Community Misuse

The Guardians Tribe is provided for members who genuinely wish to participate in our mutual-exchange house and pet sitting community.

Members are free to use other house sitting, pet sitting or related platforms and services.

However, membership of The Guardians Tribe must not be used primarily or systematically to:

  • Recruit members on behalf of another commercial platform, business or competing service.
  • Solicit members to move their listings, arrangements or relationships to another platform.
  • Harvest or collect member contact information for external marketing, recruitment or commercial purposes.
  • Use member profiles, listings, messages, community spaces or relationships established through The Guardians Tribe for unauthorised commercial promotion.
  • Deliberately redirect members away from The Guardians Tribe for the benefit of another commercial service.
  • Join or maintain membership principally for the purpose of accessing, approaching or recruiting The Guardians Tribe members for an external platform or business.

Nothing in this section prevents a member from:

  • Holding memberships with other platforms.
  • Using other services independently.
  • Discussing genuine personal experiences.
  • Privately choosing where they arrange their own future house or pet sitting activities.

The purpose of this provision is to prevent misuse of The Guardians Tribe, its systems, member information and community relationships.

Where The Guardians Tribe reasonably believes that an account is being used primarily for unauthorised solicitation, systematic recruitment, member harvesting or deliberate diversion of members, access may be restricted, suspended or terminated.

Serious or deliberate breaches may result in immediate action without application of the standard three-strike process.

3.6 Account Security

Members are responsible for keeping their account secure.

This includes:

  • Using a strong and unique password.
  • Keeping login information private.
  • Enabling two-factor authentication where available.
  • Logging out of shared or public devices.
  • Reporting suspected unauthorised access or suspicious activity promptly.

The Guardians Tribe will never ask a member to provide their password.

3.7 Account Suspension & Termination

The Guardians Tribe may restrict, suspend or permanently close an account where a member:

  • Provides false or materially misleading information.
  • Supplies false, altered or misleading verification documentation.
  • Misrepresents insurance, qualifications, experience, references or other trust information.
  • Breaches these Terms or associated community policies.
  • Engages in fraud, scams, harassment, abuse or harmful behaviour.
  • Creates duplicate or fraudulent accounts.
  • Misuses member information or platform resources.
  • Uses the platform for unauthorised commercial solicitation or systematic recruitment.
  • Deliberately seeks to divert or harvest members for another commercial platform or service.
  • Creates a material risk to community trust, safety or platform integrity.

The Guardians Tribe will consider the nature and seriousness of the circumstances when deciding what action is appropriate.

Serious breaches may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Where an account is suspended or terminated, access to applicable membership features and benefits will end.

Referral earnings or rewards will be dealt with under the separate referral terms applicable to the member.

3.8 Account Deactivation by Members

Members may request account deactivation or deletion through the available account settings or by contacting The Guardians Tribe support team.

Where an account is deleted, personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.

Closing an account does not remove obligations or liabilities arising from conduct or arrangements that occurred before closure.

3.9 Feedback Sharing Preference

Feedback provided between members may be displayed within The Guardians Tribe as part of the normal operation of the platform.

Members may choose whether feedback they provide about another member may also be shared outside The Guardians Tribe.

Where permission has been granted through the relevant platform settings, the recipient member and/or The Guardians Tribe may display that feedback externally.

Feedback shared outside The Guardians Tribe must not be materially altered or presented in a manner that changes its meaning or creates a misleading impression.

The Guardians Tribe may moderate or remove feedback where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect personal information, address abuse or enforce platform policies.

3.10 Platform Data, Content & Member Information

The Guardians Tribe provides access to profiles, listings, feedback, photographs, messages and other platform content solely for legitimate use of the platform.

Members and third parties must not, without prior written permission from The Guardians Tribe:

  • Scrape, harvest or systematically extract platform data.
  • Bulk copy or download member profiles, listings, feedback, photographs, messages or contact information.
  • Create databases or datasets using information obtained from The Guardians Tribe.
  • Republish, resell or commercially exploit platform or member content.
  • Use bots, crawlers, automated software, artificial intelligence tools, browser extensions, data-mining systems or similar technologies to extract or collect platform content.
  • Use information obtained through The Guardians Tribe to build, enrich or support a competing service, commercial database or member recruitment system.

Members must not use another member’s personal information for purposes unrelated to genuine participation in The Guardians Tribe without that member’s consent or another lawful basis.

Unauthorised collection, extraction, copying, importing, republishing or commercial use of platform or member information may result in restriction, suspension, termination and, where appropriate, legal action.

3.11 Changes to Member Information

Members are responsible for keeping information relevant to trust and safety reasonably current.

This includes notifying The Guardians Tribe where there is a material change to information that has been verified or displayed on their profile, including:

  • Insurance cover.
  • Identity details.
  • Qualifications.
  • References.
  • Household circumstances relevant to a listing.
  • Other verified trust and safety information.

Where verified information expires, changes or can no longer be confirmed, The Guardians Tribe may amend or remove the relevant profile status or badge until updated evidence is provided.

4. Willable Commission Earnings

4.1 Overview

The Guardians Tribe operates a referral programme through which eligible members may earn commission for qualifying membership referrals.

Referral commissions are entirely separate from guardianship stays. They are not payment for house sitting, pet sitting or any care provided by a Guardian.

Subject to these Terms and the applicable referral programme conditions, eligible referral commission rights may continue following a member’s death and may be transferred to an eligible nominated beneficiary or otherwise dealt with as part of the member’s estate.

The intention of our willable referral commission programme is to allow the rewards created through genuine community referrals to continue benefiting those chosen by the member where legally and administratively possible.

Ongoing referral commissions remain dependent upon the qualifying conditions of the referral programme, including the continued eligibility of the relevant referred memberships.

4.2 Nominating a Beneficiary

Members participating in the referral programme may nominate a person they would like to receive eligible continuing referral commissions following their death.

Members are responsible for:

  • Providing the full name and required contact details of their nominated beneficiary.
  • Submitting the nomination through the method specified by The Guardians Tribe.
  • Keeping beneficiary information accurate and up to date.
  • Informing The Guardians Tribe if they wish to change or remove their nominated beneficiary.

A nominated beneficiary may be a family member, partner or another person chosen by the member.

A beneficiary nomination recorded by The Guardians Tribe is intended to provide administrative guidance regarding the member’s wishes. It does not replace a legally valid will or override applicable inheritance, probate, succession or estate law.

4.3 Documentation & Verification

Following the death of a member, The Guardians Tribe may require reasonable documentation before transferring or continuing eligible referral commissions.

This may include:

  • Evidence of the member’s death.
  • Proof of identity of the nominated beneficiary.
  • Evidence of the beneficiary nomination held by The Guardians Tribe.
  • Information or documentation from the executor, administrator or other authorised representative of the member’s estate.
  • Probate, letters of administration or other legal documentation where reasonably required.

The Guardians Tribe may delay any transfer or payment while entitlement is being verified or where there is a genuine dispute regarding the person legally entitled to receive the commissions.

4.4 Commission Transfer Process

Where The Guardians Tribe is satisfied that a beneficiary or estate is entitled to receive eligible continuing referral commissions:

  1. The beneficiary, executor, administrator or authorised representative should notify The Guardians Tribe and provide the requested documentation.
  2. The Guardians Tribe will review the information and confirm whether the referral commission rights remain eligible to continue.
  3. Where approved, eligible future referral commissions will be transferred or paid to the appropriate beneficiary or estate in accordance with the referral programme and applicable law.

The Guardians Tribe may require the recipient to provide suitable payment and tax information before payments can be made.

4.5 Continuing Eligibility

Referral commissions are not guaranteed indefinitely.

Continuing commission payments remain subject to:

  • The referred membership remaining eligible under the referral programme.
  • The relevant membership or transaction continuing to generate a qualifying commission.
  • Compliance with these Terms and the applicable referral programme rules.
  • The continued operation of the relevant referral programme.

If a referred membership ends, becomes ineligible or otherwise ceases to generate commission, the associated referral commission will also end.

4.6 Limitations

A beneficiary does not acquire membership rights, access to the deceased member’s account, or any rights relating to guardianship stays simply because they become entitled to eligible referral commissions.

Where no valid beneficiary nomination exists, any outstanding or continuing entitlement will be dealt with in accordance with applicable law and the administration of the member’s estate.

The Guardians Tribe is not responsible for resolving disputes between beneficiaries, family members, executors or other persons claiming entitlement to referral commissions.

Where competing claims arise, The Guardians Tribe may suspend payments until satisfactory evidence of entitlement is provided or the matter is legally resolved.

4.7 Relationship to Guardianship Stays

Referral commissions relate solely to The Guardians Tribe referral programme.

The Guardians Tribe operates a mutual-exchange house and pet sitting platform. Referral commissions must not be interpreted as payment, remuneration or compensation for providing house sitting, pet sitting or other services during a guardianship stay.

No percentage or commission is charged by The Guardians Tribe in relation to the mutual-exchange care provided between Homeowners and Guardians.

4.8 Acknowledgment

By participating in the referral programme, members acknowledge that:

  • Referral commissions are separate from guardianship stays.
  • Members are responsible for keeping beneficiary information current.
  • A beneficiary nomination does not replace a legally valid will or override applicable inheritance or estate law.
  • Continuing referral commissions remain subject to the eligibility requirements of the referral programme.
  • The Guardians Tribe may request reasonable documentation before recognising or transferring an entitlement following a member’s death.

5. Code of Conduct & Member Responsibilities

The Guardians Tribe is built on trust, respect, responsibility and mutual exchange. Every member is expected to uphold these values and contribute to a community that is safe, fair and supportive.

5.1 General Expectations

Members must act honestly, respectfully and responsibly when engaging with The Guardians Tribe and other members.

Members agree to:

  • Be Honest – Provide accurate and truthful information in profiles, listings, applications, communications and verification documentation.
  • Respect Agreements – Honour guardianship stays and arrangements once confirmed. Cancellations should only occur where reasonably necessary and members should provide as much notice as possible.
  • Communicate Clearly – Communicate openly, respectfully and within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Follow Applicable Laws – Members are responsible for complying with applicable laws and regulations in the country, state or region where they live, travel, sit or host.
  • Respect Mutual Exchange – Guardianship stays arranged through The Guardians Tribe are mutual-exchange arrangements and must not be advertised or represented through the platform as paid house or pet sitting work.
  • Care for Pets and Homes – Pets must be treated with appropriate care and kindness, and homes and property must be treated with respect.
  • Protect Community Trust – Members must not deliberately mislead other members or misuse the platform, its systems, community or member relationships.

Members are responsible for determining whether visa, immigration, residency, volunteering, insurance, permit or other requirements apply to their individual circumstances.

The Guardians Tribe does not determine a member’s legal status or eligibility to undertake a guardianship stay within a particular jurisdiction.

5.2 Guardians (Sitters)

Guardians agree to:

  • Provide appropriate care, attention and supervision to pets in accordance with the agreed care instructions.
  • Take reasonable steps to protect the Homeowner’s property while occupying the home.
  • Follow reasonable household and pet-care instructions agreed before the guardianship stay.
  • Never invite unauthorised guests into a Homeowner’s property.
  • Respect the Homeowner’s privacy, possessions and personal information.
  • Keep the property reasonably clean and return it in substantially the condition in which it was received, allowing for normal use.
  • Communicate promptly with the Homeowner where an emergency, significant concern or material change occurs.
  • Avoid cancelling confirmed guardianship stays except where reasonably necessary.
  • Maintain the insurance required under these Terms and ensure that appropriate cover applies to the location of the guardianship stay.
  • Immediately raise any situation in which the responsibilities actually required materially differ from those disclosed or agreed before the stay.

5.3 Owners (Homeowners & Pet Owners)

Homeowners agree to:

  • Provide honest, accurate and sufficiently detailed information about their home, pets and care requirements.
  • Disclose known behavioural, medical or safety concerns relating to their pets that could reasonably affect a Guardian.
  • Ensure the home is safe, clean and reasonably habitable for the Guardian.
  • Provide appropriate sleeping and living arrangements for the Guardian.
  • Provide sufficient pet food, medication, care instructions and other supplies reasonably required for the guardianship stay.
  • Provide relevant veterinary details, emergency contacts and instructions for dealing with foreseeable emergencies.
  • Disclose household risks, security systems, monitoring devices and other information reasonably necessary for the Guardian’s safety.
  • Ensure the responsibilities described in the listing accurately reflect what will be expected during the guardianship stay.
  • Treat Guardians fairly and respectfully and avoid excessive, unreasonable or undisclosed demands.
  • Maintain the insurance required under these Terms.

5.4 Mutual Exchange & Appropriate Responsibilities

Guardianship stays arranged through The Guardians Tribe operate on a mutual-exchange basis.

The Guardian provides agreed house and/or pet care and receives accommodation for the agreed period. No payment or remuneration for the provision of house or pet sitting services is facilitated through The Guardians Tribe.

Normal responsibilities associated with caring for the home and pets may be agreed between the parties before the stay.

These may include reasonable tasks such as:

  • Feeding and caring for pets.
  • Walking pets where applicable.
  • Administering agreed routine medication where the Guardian is willing and competent to do so.
  • Collecting post.
  • Watering household or garden plants.
  • Putting bins out.
  • Maintaining reasonable cleanliness during the stay.
  • Carrying out other normal household or pet-care responsibilities clearly disclosed and agreed before confirmation.

A mutual-exchange guardianship stay must not be used to obtain substantial unrelated labour or commercial services from a Guardian.

5.5 Airbnb, Holiday Lets & Commercial Properties

If a property is also operated through Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or another short-term rental, holiday-let or commercial accommodation service, this must be clearly disclosed in the Homeowner listing before a guardianship stay is confirmed.

Guardians participating through The Guardians Tribe are not responsible for operating or servicing a Homeowner’s commercial accommodation business.

Unless The Guardians Tribe expressly permits otherwise under a separate service or arrangement, Guardians must not be required through a guardianship stay to undertake duties including:

  • Guest check-ins or check-outs.
  • Cleaning or preparing accommodation for paying guests.
  • Changing guest linen or carrying out guest laundry.
  • Managing bookings.
  • Communicating with paying guests on behalf of the business.
  • Handling payments.
  • Conducting commercial property turnovers.
  • Providing key-handover or concierge services to paying guests.
  • Carrying out other work connected primarily with the operation of a commercial accommodation business.

Where a property has both residential and commercial uses, the responsibilities forming part of the guardianship stay must remain within the normal scope of mutual-exchange house and pet care.

5.6 Camera & Monitoring Device Disclosure

Homeowners must clearly disclose all indoor and outdoor security cameras, pet cameras, pet feeders, cat flap cameras, doorbell cameras and other monitoring or audio recording devices at the property.

The presence and location of such devices must be disclosed in the property listing and communicated to the Guardian before the guardianship stay is confirmed.

Hidden or undisclosed monitoring devices are prohibited.

Indoor cameras or recording devices within areas occupied by a Guardian during a guardianship stay must not be used to monitor the Guardian.

Devices necessary for legitimate security or pet-care purposes must be disclosed and used in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection laws.

Failure to disclose a monitoring device may constitute a serious breach of these Terms and may result in immediate action where appropriate.

5.7 Prohibited Behaviour

Members must not:

  • Harass, threaten, abuse or unlawfully discriminate against another person.
  • Create fraudulent profiles, listings, references, reviews or documentation.
  • Deliberately provide false or materially misleading information.
  • Misrepresent insurance, experience, qualifications or verification status.
  • Share another member’s private or personal information without permission or another lawful basis.
  • Use the platform for spam, unauthorised advertising, commercial solicitation or systematic recruitment.
  • Harvest, recruit or deliberately divert members for another commercial platform or service in breach of Section 3.
  • Advertise or solicit paid house or pet sitting arrangements through The Guardians Tribe.
  • Request substantial undisclosed responsibilities after a guardianship stay has been confirmed.
  • Use a mutual-exchange guardianship stay to obtain unrelated commercial labour or services.
  • Engage in illegal activity or behaviour that creates an unreasonable risk to pets, people or property.
  • Act in a manner that materially undermines the safety, integrity or legitimate operation of The Guardians Tribe.

5.8 Reporting Violations

Members should report suspected breaches of these Terms or the Code of Conduct to The Guardians Tribe support team.

Reports will be reviewed and The Guardians Tribe may request further information or evidence where reasonably necessary.

Depending on the circumstances, action may include:

  • Guidance or informal resolution.
  • A formal warning.
  • Temporary restrictions.
  • Temporary suspension.
  • Removal of a listing or content.
  • Permanent termination of membership.

5.9 Three-Strike Policy

The Guardians Tribe generally operates a three-strike approach for breaches where warnings and corrective action are considered appropriate.

Three formal strikes may result in permanent removal from the platform.

However, the three-strike process does not prevent The Guardians Tribe from taking immediate action where the nature or seriousness of a breach reasonably justifies it.

Immediate suspension or termination may be considered in circumstances involving serious safety concerns, fraud, deliberate deception, serious breaches of privacy, undisclosed monitoring, abuse, significant misuse of member information, systematic member recruitment or solicitation, or conduct creating a serious risk to a person, pet, property or the community.

The Guardians Tribe will consider the circumstances and available evidence when determining an appropriate and proportionate response.

6. Refund & Cancellation Policy

The Guardians Tribe aims to operate fairly and transparently. Membership fees are generally non-refundable once any applicable statutory cancellation period has ended, except where required by law or where The Guardians Tribe agrees otherwise.

6.1 Statutory Cancellation Rights

Where applicable consumer law provides a right to cancel a membership purchased online or at a distance, members may exercise that right within the relevant statutory cancellation period.

For UK consumers, this will generally be 14 days beginning from the day after the membership contract is entered into.

To exercise a statutory right to cancel, the member must notify The Guardians Tribe clearly of their decision to cancel within the applicable cancellation period.

Where a member expressly requests or agrees that membership services begin during the cancellation period, The Guardians Tribe may, where permitted by law, deduct or charge an amount reflecting services already supplied before cancellation.

Nothing in these Terms removes or limits statutory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6.2 Membership Fees After the Cancellation Period

Once any applicable statutory cancellation period has expired, membership fees are generally non-refundable.

A refund may nevertheless be considered where:

  • A duplicate payment has been taken.
  • A confirmed technical or billing error has occurred.
  • The Guardians Tribe is legally required to provide a refund.
  • The Guardians Tribe agrees, at its discretion, that exceptional circumstances justify one.

A member is not automatically entitled to a refund simply because:

  • They change their mind after the applicable cancellation period.
  • They do not use the platform.
  • They do not secure a guardianship stay.
  • They choose not to continue participating in the community.
  • They are suspended or removed from the platform for breaching these Terms.

Any rights provided under the Stay Match Promise are separate from a right to a monetary refund and are governed by Section 21.

6.3 Technical Errors & Duplicate Payments

Where a member believes they have been charged incorrectly or more than once, they should contact The Guardians Tribe as soon as reasonably possible.

We may request information reasonably necessary to investigate the payment, such as:

  • The member’s name and account details.
  • The date and amount of the transaction.
  • A transaction reference or payment confirmation.
  • Other evidence reasonably required to identify the payment.

Where a duplicate or incorrect payment is confirmed, the appropriate refund will be processed to the original payment method where reasonably possible.

6.4 Refund Request Process

Members requesting a refund should contact The Guardians Tribe support team and provide:

  • Their full name and account details.
  • The reason for the request.
  • Relevant supporting information or evidence where appropriate.

Refund requests will be reviewed within a reasonable timeframe.

Where a refund is approved, it will normally be returned to the original payment method unless another method is required or agreed.

The time taken for funds to appear following processing may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.

6.5 Promotional & Discounted Memberships

Memberships purchased through a discount, promotional offer or special campaign remain subject to applicable statutory consumer rights.

After any applicable statutory cancellation period has ended, promotional or discounted membership fees are generally non-refundable unless otherwise stated in the particular promotion or required by law.

6.6 Referral Commissions & Refunds

Where a membership payment that generated a referral commission is refunded, cancelled, reversed, charged back or otherwise becomes ineligible, any associated referral commission may also be cancelled, reversed or deducted from future referral earnings in accordance with the referral programme terms.

Referral commissions are separate from guardianship stays and do not represent payment for house or pet sitting services.

6.7 Membership Suspension or Termination

Where a membership is suspended or terminated because the member has breached these Terms, the member will not normally be entitled to a refund for any unused portion of the membership period.

This does not affect any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6.8 Membership Transfers

Memberships are personal to the registered member and are not normally transferable.

The Guardians Tribe may, in exceptional circumstances and at its discretion, permit a membership to be transferred to another eligible person.

Any approved transfer may be subject to identity verification, eligibility requirements and acceptance of these Terms by the new member.

6.9 Refund Decisions

The Guardians Tribe will assess refund requests in accordance with these Terms, applicable consumer law and the circumstances of the request.

A decision made under our discretionary refund policy does not affect any statutory rights or remedies available to a member under applicable law.

7. Security and Account Protection

The Guardians Tribe takes the security of member accounts and platform information seriously. We use reasonable security measures designed to protect accounts and data from unauthorised access, misuse and loss.

Members also have responsibility for protecting their own accounts and login credentials.

7.1 Security Measures by The Guardians Tribe

The Guardians Tribe may use appropriate technical and organisational security measures, including:

  • Secure authentication and password requirements.
  • Encryption and other appropriate protections for sensitive information.
  • Monitoring or detection measures for suspicious or unusual activity.
  • Temporary account restrictions or lockouts following suspicious or repeated unsuccessful login attempts.
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA), passkeys or other authentication methods where available.
  • Security measures designed to protect member and platform information.

Security measures may change as technology, risks and the platform develop.

No online service can guarantee absolute security, but The Guardians Tribe will take reasonable steps to protect the platform and member information.

7.2 Member Responsibilities

Members are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect their accounts.

Members should:

  • Use a strong and unique password that is not reused across other services.
  • Use passkeys or other secure authentication methods where available.
  • Enable two-factor authentication where available.
  • Keep passwords, authentication codes and login credentials private.
  • Never knowingly allow another person to access their account using their credentials.
  • Log out after using shared or public devices.
  • Keep devices used to access The Guardians Tribe reasonably secure and up to date.
  • Be alert to phishing, impersonation and suspicious messages.
  • Notify The Guardians Tribe promptly if they believe their account or login information has been compromised.

Members are responsible for activity carried out through their account unless the activity results from circumstances for which the member could not reasonably be responsible.

7.3 Communications & Impersonation

The Guardians Tribe will never ask a member to disclose their password.

Members should take reasonable care when responding to emails, messages or websites claiming to represent The Guardians Tribe.

Members must not:

  • Impersonate The Guardians Tribe, its founders, team members or another member.
  • Create false or misleading communications that appear to originate from The Guardians Tribe.
  • Attempt to obtain another member’s password, verification code or other security credentials.
  • Use The Guardians Tribe branding or identity in a way designed to deceive another person.

Suspected phishing, impersonation or fraudulent communications should be reported to The Guardians Tribe.

7.4 Reporting a Compromised Account

If a member believes their account has been compromised, they should take appropriate action as soon as reasonably possible, which may include:

  1. Changing the affected password or login credentials.
  2. Enabling or reviewing two-factor authentication.
  3. Reviewing account information and activity for unauthorised changes.
  4. Securing any associated email account where appropriate.
  5. Contacting The Guardians Tribe support team.

The Guardians Tribe may temporarily restrict access to an account while suspected unauthorised access is investigated.

We may require reasonable identity verification before restoring access.

7.5 Unauthorised Access & Security Violations

Members must not attempt to:

  • Access another person’s account without permission.
  • Circumvent authentication, verification or platform security measures.
  • Hack, probe, disrupt or interfere with The Guardians Tribe systems.
  • Introduce malware, malicious code or other harmful technologies.
  • Exploit vulnerabilities for unauthorised purposes.
  • Obtain or attempt to obtain member information through deception, phishing or other unauthorised means.
  • Assist another person in carrying out prohibited security activity.

7.6 Consequences of Security Violations

Where The Guardians Tribe reasonably believes a member has deliberately compromised or attempted to compromise platform security, member information or another member’s account, we may take action including:

  • Restricting platform functionality.
  • Temporarily suspending the account.
  • Permanently terminating membership.
  • Removing relevant content or access.
  • Cancelling or withholding referral rewards or commissions where permitted under the applicable referral programme terms.
  • Taking or supporting appropriate legal action where necessary.

Serious hacking, phishing, fraud, malicious access or deliberate security breaches may result in immediate suspension or termination without application of the standard three-strike process.

7.7 Security Updates

The Guardians Tribe may update security requirements and protective measures as the platform and security risks develop.

Where a change materially affects members or requires action from them, we may communicate this through email, platform notifications or website announcements.

Members may be required to adopt updated security measures where reasonably necessary to continue accessing particular platform features.

8. Advertising, Promotions & Community Features

8.1 Community Features & Member Highlights

The Guardians Tribe may feature members, listings, stories, reviews, photographs or community experiences across the platform, newsletters, social media channels or other communications for the purpose of celebrating the community, promoting responsible house and pet sitting, and helping others understand how The Guardians Tribe works.

Where content is shared externally, The Guardians Tribe will take reasonable care to present it accurately and respectfully.

Where member permission is required, content will only be used in accordance with the permissions provided and applicable law.

8.2 Member Preferences & Opt-Outs

Where available, members may manage promotional or sharing preferences through their account settings.

Members may also contact The Guardians Tribe to request that they are not included in optional community features or promotional content.

This does not prevent The Guardians Tribe from using information where reasonably necessary for the operation of the platform, legal compliance, trust and safety, dispute handling or other purposes described in the Privacy Policy.

8.3 Authorised Partnerships, Advertising & Sponsorship

The Guardians Tribe may work with selected third-party brands, organisations or service providers where we believe their products or services may be relevant to members.

This may include areas such as:

  • Insurance.
  • Training and qualifications.
  • Pet care.
  • Travel.
  • Safety.
  • Member benefits.
  • Other services aligned with the purpose of The Guardians Tribe.

Where content is sponsored, promotional, affiliate-based or forms part of a commercial partnership, The Guardians Tribe will identify it appropriately where required.

The inclusion of a third-party product, service or organisation does not guarantee its suitability for every member.

Members remain responsible for reviewing the terms, conditions, suitability and availability of any third-party service before choosing to use it.

8.4 Member Advertising & Promotion

Members must not use The Guardians Tribe for unauthorised advertising, commercial promotion, solicitation or recruitment.

Without prior written permission from The Guardians Tribe, members must not use:

  • Listings.
  • Profiles.
  • Private messages.
  • Reviews or feedback.
  • Community areas.
  • Member contact details.
  • Platform communications.

to promote or recruit for an external commercial platform, business, membership service, referral scheme or other unrelated commercial activity.

This includes systematic attempts to encourage The Guardians Tribe members to move their listings, arrangements or participation to another commercial platform.

This provision does not prevent members from discussing genuine personal experiences, recommending a product or service in ordinary conversation where appropriate, or independently using other platforms or businesses.

The distinction is between genuine member conversation and using The Guardians Tribe or its member relationships as a channel for unauthorised promotion, solicitation or recruitment.

8.5 Referral Programme Promotion

The Guardians Tribe may operate its own authorised referral and rewards programme.

Members participating in that programme may share approved referral links, codes or promotional material in accordance with the applicable referral programme rules.

Authorised participation in The Guardians Tribe referral programme does not give members permission to use the platform to promote unrelated external referral schemes, competing platforms or commercial services.

8.6 Promotional Content Standards

Advertising, sponsorships, partnerships and promotional content authorised by The Guardians Tribe should:

  • Be accurate and not materially misleading.
  • Be clearly identifiable as promotional where required.
  • Respect member privacy and applicable data protection law.
  • Avoid deceptive or inappropriate claims.
  • Be reasonably consistent with the purpose and values of The Guardians Tribe.

8.7 Removal of Unauthorised Promotional Content

The Guardians Tribe may remove, restrict or moderate content that we reasonably believe constitutes:

  • Spam.
  • Unauthorised advertising.
  • Commercial solicitation.
  • Systematic recruitment.
  • Member harvesting.
  • Promotion of a competing commercial service using The Guardians Tribe resources.
  • Misleading or deceptive promotional content.

Repeated or serious misuse may result in restrictions, suspension or termination in accordance with these Terms.

8.8 Third-Party Relationships

Any third-party partnership, sponsorship, discount, affiliate relationship or recommendation made available through The Guardians Tribe does not make that third party part of The Guardians Tribe.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, third-party providers remain responsible for their own products, services, terms and obligations.

The Guardians Tribe may introduce, change or discontinue partnerships, discounts or promotional arrangements from time to time.

9. Insurance & Liability Protection

9.1 Mandatory Guardian Insurance

All Guardians using The Guardians Tribe must hold appropriate insurance for their house and pet sitting activities.

The type of insurance available may vary depending on the Guardian’s country of residence. Appropriate cover may include:

  • Specialist pet sitter insurance.
  • Public liability insurance.
  • Personal liability insurance.
  • Another equivalent or appropriate form of liability cover available within the Guardian’s country.

Where specialist pet sitter insurance is available and appropriate within the Guardian’s country of residence, Guardians are expected to obtain suitable cover for the activities they undertake.

Where specialist pet sitter insurance is not available, an appropriate form of liability insurance may be accepted where The Guardians Tribe is satisfied that the policy provides relevant protection for the Guardian’s activities.

Guardians are responsible for understanding the terms, exclusions and limitations of their own insurance.

9.2 Insurance Evidence & Verification

Guardians must provide evidence of appropriate insurance to The Guardians Tribe for verification.

This may include:

  • An insurance certificate.
  • Policy schedule.
  • Relevant policy wording.
  • Written confirmation from the insurer or broker.
  • Other documentation reasonably required to establish the nature and geographical scope of the cover.

The Guardians Tribe may request additional information where the documentation supplied does not clearly establish the relevant cover.

Once The Guardians Tribe has reviewed the evidence provided and verified it with the relevant providers, an appropriate insurance status may be added to the Guardian’s profile.

9.3 Geographical Insurance Status

A Guardian’s verified insurance status will reflect the geographical cover that The Guardians Tribe has been able to confirm from the evidence supplied.

This may include, for example:

  • Insurance verified for the Guardian’s country of residence.
  • Insurance verified for specified additional countries or territories.
  • European cover verified.
  • International or multi-country cover verified.

The exact wording displayed may vary according to the policy and the geographical cover that has been confirmed.

A Guardian must not represent themselves as insured for a country or territory that has not been included within their verified insurance status.

9.4 Sitting Outside the Guardian’s Country of Residence

Insurance held within a Guardian’s country of residence does not necessarily provide cover when undertaking a guardianship stay in another country.

Before applying for or accepting a guardianship stay outside their country of residence, the Guardian must check whether their insurance applies to:

  • The country or territory in which the stay will take place.
  • House sitting and pet care activities undertaken there.
  • Relevant public, personal or third-party liability.
  • The length and nature of the proposed stay.
  • Any other circumstances or activities relevant to the policy.

Where there is any uncertainty, the Guardian should obtain confirmation directly from their insurer or broker.

If an existing policy does not provide appropriate cover for the destination or activity, the Guardian is responsible for obtaining suitable additional or alternative insurance before the guardianship stay begins.

The Guardians Tribe may require evidence of this cover before updating the Guardian’s profile or allowing a relevant insurance status to be displayed.

9.5 Guardian Responsibility for Maintaining Insurance

Guardians are responsible for ensuring their insurance remains valid and appropriate throughout their membership and during every guardianship stay they undertake.

Guardians must notify The Guardians Tribe where:

  • Their insurance expires.
  • Their policy is cancelled.
  • Their insurer or policy changes.
  • Their geographical cover changes.
  • Relevant exclusions or restrictions are introduced.
  • Information previously supplied to The Guardians Tribe is no longer accurate.

Updated evidence may be required.

Where insurance expires, changes or can no longer be verified, The Guardians Tribe may remove or amend the insurance status shown on the Guardian’s profile until satisfactory updated evidence is provided.

Failure to maintain required insurance may result in restrictions on the Guardian’s account, listings, applications or other platform features until appropriate cover is restored.

9.6 Meaning of Insurance Verification

An insurance verification status displayed by The Guardians Tribe confirms only that we have reviewed evidence of insurance supplied by the member and recorded the cover that we have been reasonably able to verify.

Insurance verification:

  • Does not create or extend insurance cover.
  • Does not constitute a guarantee that a particular guardianship stay is covered.
  • Does not guarantee that an insurer will accept or pay a claim.
  • Does not replace the Guardian’s responsibility to read and understand their policy.
  • Does not constitute individual insurance advice.

Insurance policies remain subject to the insurer’s own terms, conditions, limits, exclusions and claims decisions.

The Guardian remains responsible for confirming that their insurance is appropriate for each individual guardianship stay.

9.7 Homeowner Insurance Requirement

Homeowners must hold appropriate home insurance for the property used for a guardianship stay.

Homeowners are responsible for checking that their policy permits a Guardian or house sitter to stay in and care for the property while the Homeowner is away.

Where required by The Guardians Tribe, Homeowners must provide evidence that appropriate cover is in place.

Homeowners must notify The Guardians Tribe where insurance previously verified:

  • Expires.
  • Is cancelled.
  • Changes materially.
  • No longer permits the relevant guardianship arrangement.

The Guardians Tribe may remove or amend any insurance status displayed on the Homeowner’s profile or listing where appropriate cover can no longer be verified.

9.8 Pet Insurance

Homeowners are responsible for deciding whether to maintain insurance for their pets.

Where pet insurance is held, Homeowners should check whether the policy contains any requirements or restrictions relating to another person temporarily caring for the pet.

Homeowners should ensure the Guardian has access to appropriate veterinary information, emergency contact details and relevant insurance information where this may reasonably be needed during the guardianship stay.

Pet insurance held by the Homeowner is separate from the liability insurance required of Guardians.

9.9 Travel Insurance

Guardian liability or pet sitter insurance is not necessarily the same as travel insurance.

Guardians travelling away from their country or usual place of residence are responsible for deciding whether they require separate travel, medical, cancellation or other insurance for themselves.

Members should not assume that verification of pet sitter or liability insurance provides travel, medical or personal belongings cover.

9.10 The Guardians Tribe’s Role

The Guardians Tribe does not underwrite insurance policies and is not the insurer of any member.

We may:

  • Request and review insurance documentation.
  • Record verified insurance information on a member’s profile.
  • Provide information about third-party insurers, brokers or insurance products.
  • Make available discounts, partnerships or introductions to third-party providers.

Any insurance contract remains between the member and the relevant insurer, broker or provider.

Members remain responsible for deciding whether a particular policy is appropriate for their needs.

9.11 Claims, Losses & Liability

The Guardians Tribe does not determine whether an insurance claim will be accepted.

Claims relating to an insurance policy must be dealt with directly between the insured member and the relevant insurer or broker.

The Guardians Tribe is not responsible for an insurer declining a claim, applying an exclusion, limiting cover or determining that a particular activity or location falls outside the policy, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Members remain responsible for losses, damage, injuries, costs and liabilities arising from their own actions or agreements, subject to applicable law.

9.12 Insurance & Mutual Exchange

Insurance requirements apply regardless of the fact that guardianship stays arranged through The Guardians Tribe operate on a mutual-exchange basis.

Holding insurance does not convert a guardianship stay into paid employment or a paid pet sitting arrangement.

The Guardians Tribe does not facilitate remuneration for house or pet sitting through the platform.

10. Data Protection & Privacy

10.1 Commitment to Privacy

The Guardians Tribe is committed to handling personal information lawfully, fairly, transparently and securely.

We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 where applicable.

Further information about how personal data is collected, used, stored and shared is set out in The Guardians Tribe Privacy Policy.

  • Training & Qualification Information – certificates, qualifications or other evidence members provide for profile verification.
  • References & Feedback – references, reviews, reports or feedback provided by members or relevant third parties.
  • Trust & Safety Information – information reasonably required to investigate reports, complaints, suspected misconduct, fraud, account misuse or breaches of these Terms.
  • Technical & Security Information – information such as device, login, security and technical data reasonably required to operate and protect the platform.
  • Communications – correspondence between members and The Guardians Tribe, including support enquiries and other communications.

We aim to collect only personal information that is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is being used.

The specific purposes and lawful bases relied upon for processing personal data are described further in our Privacy Policy.

10.4 Verification Information

Information supplied for identity, insurance, qualification or other verification purposes will be used only for legitimate platform, membership, trust, safety, compliance or related purposes.

Where The Guardians Tribe verifies particular information, we may record and display an appropriate verification status on the member’s profile.

For example, this may include:

  • Identity verification status.
  • Insurance verification and geographical cover.
  • Training or qualification verification.
  • Other trust and safety indicators made available by the platform.

The Guardians Tribe may retain sufficient records to demonstrate that a verification was carried out, manage expiry or renewal requirements, investigate concerns, and protect the integrity of the verification system.

Verification information will not be treated as permission to use that information for unrelated purposes.

10.5 Insurance Documentation

Insurance documentation supplied to The Guardians Tribe may be reviewed for the purpose of determining the insurance status that may be displayed on a member’s profile.

This may include reviewing:

  • The identity of the policyholder.
  • The type of policy.
  • Policy dates.
  • Relevant geographical limits.
  • Relevant insured activities.
  • Other information reasonably necessary to establish the verification status.

The Guardians Tribe may record the outcome of the verification and relevant expiry or geographical information.

Insurance documentation will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection requirements.

10.6 Trust, Safety & Misconduct Information

The Guardians Tribe may process information relating to:

  • Member complaints.
  • Reports of unsafe behaviour.
  • Suspected fraud or deception.
  • False or misleading information.
  • Insurance or verification concerns.
  • Platform misuse.
  • Unauthorised solicitation or recruitment.
  • Security incidents.
  • Breaches of these Terms.

Where reasonably necessary, this information may be reviewed alongside account activity, platform communications, verification records or other relevant evidence.

The Guardians Tribe may retain appropriate records of warnings, suspensions, investigations or account termination where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute management or protection of the platform and its members.

10.7 Sharing Personal Information

The Guardians Tribe does not sell member personal data.

Personal information may be shared where reasonably necessary with appropriate third parties, which may include:

  • Payment processors.
  • Identity verification providers.
  • Hosting, technology and security providers.
  • Professional advisers.
  • Insurance providers or brokers where the member has requested or authorised relevant contact or where otherwise lawfully permitted.
  • Regulators, courts, law enforcement bodies or other authorities where legally required or lawfully appropriate.
  • Other service providers necessary for the operation of The Guardians Tribe.

Where third parties process personal data on behalf of The Guardians Tribe, appropriate contractual and data protection arrangements will be used where required.

Further details are provided in our Privacy Policy.

10.8 International Data Processing

Because The Guardians Tribe operates internationally and may use service providers located in different countries, personal data may sometimes be processed outside the United Kingdom.

Where international transfers are subject to UK data protection requirements, The Guardians Tribe will use appropriate safeguards where required.

Further information regarding international data transfers will be provided within our Privacy Policy.

10.9 Member Data Protection Rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, members may have rights relating to their personal information, including rights to:

  • Request access to personal data held about them.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
  • Object to certain types of processing.
  • Request transfer or portability of certain information where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Raise concerns about how their personal data is being handled.

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal conditions, exemptions or limitations.

Requests relating to personal data may be made by contacting The Guardians Tribe using the contact information provided in our Privacy Policy.

10.10 Data Retention

The Guardians Tribe will retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or where continued retention is required or permitted by law.

Different categories of personal information may have different retention periods.

Factors affecting retention may include:

  • The duration of membership.
  • Verification and insurance expiry periods.
  • Legal, tax and accounting requirements.
  • Trust and safety considerations.
  • Fraud prevention.
  • Complaints or disputes.
  • The establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted, anonymised or otherwise dealt with in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

10.11 Account Closure & Data Retention

Closing or deleting a member account does not necessarily mean that all personal information will be deleted immediately.

The Guardians Tribe may retain information after account closure where reasonably necessary for:

  • Legal or regulatory obligations.
  • Financial and accounting records.
  • Fraud prevention.
  • Trust and safety records.
  • Handling complaints or disputes.
  • Enforcing these Terms.
  • Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.

Any information retained following account closure will remain subject to applicable data protection requirements.

10.12 Cookies & Similar Technologies

The Guardians Tribe may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, maintain security, remember preferences, understand platform performance and improve member experience.

Where consent is required for particular cookies or technologies, members will be provided with appropriate choices.

Further information is available within The Guardians Tribe Cookie Policy.

10.13 Data Security

The Guardians Tribe uses reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or misuse.

Members also have responsibilities for protecting their accounts as described in Section 7 of these Terms.

10.14 Data Breaches

Where The Guardians Tribe becomes aware of a personal data breach, we will assess the incident and take appropriate action in accordance with applicable data protection law.

Where legally required, affected individuals and/or the relevant supervisory authority will be notified.

10.15 Privacy Concerns & Complaints

Members who have questions or concerns regarding the use of their personal information should contact The Guardians Tribe using the details provided in our Privacy Policy.

Members may also have the right to complain to the relevant data protection supervisory authority.

Nothing in these Terms limits any data protection rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Indemnification & Limitation of Liability

11.1 Member Responsibility

Members are responsible for their own actions, decisions, agreements and conduct when using The Guardians Tribe and when participating in guardianship stays.

Homeowners and Guardians enter into guardianship stay arrangements directly with one another.

The Guardians Tribe does not employ Guardians, provide house or pet sitting services itself, or become a party to agreements made between members.

11.2 Member Liability

Members remain responsible for loss, damage, injury, costs or claims arising from their own:

  • Actions or omissions.
  • Negligence or misconduct.
  • Breach of these Terms.
  • Breach of an agreement made with another member.
  • Damage to property.
  • Harm caused to another person or animal.
  • Misuse of the platform or member information.
  • Violation of applicable law.
  • False or materially misleading information.

Nothing in these Terms transfers a member’s personal responsibility for their conduct to The Guardians Tribe.

11.3 Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, a member may be responsible for reasonable losses, liabilities, claims, damages or costs incurred by The Guardians Tribe where they arise directly from that member’s:

  • Fraudulent or unlawful conduct.
  • Deliberate misuse of the platform.
  • Material breach of these Terms.
  • Infringement of another person’s legal rights.
  • Unauthorised use or disclosure of member information.
  • Deliberate provision of false or fraudulent documentation.
  • Conduct giving rise to a legitimate third-party claim against The Guardians Tribe.

Any liability under this section will be subject to applicable law and will not extend beyond losses reasonably connected with the relevant member’s conduct.

11.4 Guardianship Stay Risks

House and pet sitting involves arrangements between private individuals and may involve risks relating to people, animals, property, travel and unforeseen events.

These may include:

  • Property damage or loss.
  • Pet illness, injury or emergencies.
  • Personal injury.
  • Changes to travel plans.
  • Cancellations.
  • Disagreements regarding care instructions or household responsibilities.
  • Conduct or negligence by another member.

Members are responsible for carrying out appropriate checks, communicating clearly and determining whether a guardianship stay is suitable for them before confirming it.

11.5 The Guardians Tribe’s Role

The Guardians Tribe provides an introductory platform and associated membership, verification, community and trust-and-safety features.

The Guardians Tribe does not:

  • Guarantee the conduct, reliability or suitability of a member.
  • Guarantee that a guardianship stay will proceed or be successful.
  • Supervise Guardians while they are carrying out a guardianship stay.
  • Control a Homeowner’s property, pets or household.
  • Become responsible for agreements made directly between Homeowners and Guardians.
  • Guarantee that information supplied by a member is complete or accurate beyond the checks actually carried out by The Guardians Tribe.
  • Guarantee that insurance will respond to a particular incident or claim.

Verification, reviews, insurance statuses, qualifications and other profile indicators are intended to help members make informed decisions but do not constitute a guarantee by The Guardians Tribe.

11.6 Mutual-Exchange Arrangements

Guardianship stays arranged through The Guardians Tribe are based on mutual exchange.

The Guardians Tribe does not facilitate payment or remuneration for the provision of house or pet sitting services between Homeowners and Guardians.

Accordingly, The Guardians Tribe is not responsible for disputes relating to privately arranged paid house or pet sitting services that fall outside the permitted use of the platform.

Referral commissions paid under The Guardians Tribe referral programme are separate from guardianship stays and are governed by Section 4.

11.7 Insurance

Members are responsible for maintaining the insurance required under Section 9 and for determining whether their cover is appropriate for each guardianship stay.

The Guardians Tribe’s verification of insurance does not make The Guardians Tribe responsible for:

  • The scope of the policy.
  • Policy exclusions or limitations.
  • Decisions made by an insurer.
  • A claim being rejected or limited.
  • A member failing to obtain appropriate geographical or activity-specific cover.

11.8 Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, The Guardians Tribe will not be responsible for loss or damage arising solely from:

  • Agreements made directly between members.
  • The acts or omissions of another member.
  • Property damage caused by a member.
  • Pet illness, injury or loss arising during a guardianship stay where The Guardians Tribe was not responsible for the relevant act or omission.
  • A member’s travel arrangements or personal expenses.
  • A member failing to comply with applicable law.
  • A member failing to maintain appropriate insurance.
  • An insurer declining or limiting a claim.
  • Information supplied by another member that The Guardians Tribe could not reasonably have known was inaccurate.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

11.9 Liability That Cannot Be Excluded

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation by The Guardians Tribe.
  • Breach of statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • Any other liability that applicable law does not permit The Guardians Tribe to exclude or limit.

11.10 Member-to-Member Claims

Where loss, damage or injury arises from the conduct of a Homeowner or Guardian during a guardianship stay, the relevant dispute or claim is generally between those members.

Members should:

  • Keep appropriate records and communications.
  • Contact their insurer where appropriate.
  • Follow the dispute-resolution provisions within these Terms.
  • Seek independent professional advice where necessary.

The Guardians Tribe may provide reasonable assistance or relevant platform information where appropriate and legally permitted but is not required to assume responsibility for the underlying member-to-member dispute.

11.11 Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Section or elsewhere in these Terms affects any statutory rights or remedies available to a consumer that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

12. Fraud Prevention & Misconduct

The Guardians Tribe is built on trust, honesty and responsible participation. Fraud, deliberate deception and serious misconduct undermine the safety and integrity of the community and will not be tolerated.

12.1 Prohibited Fraudulent or Deceptive Activity

Members must not:

  • Create fake, duplicate or misleading profiles.
  • Use another person’s identity or documentation without lawful authority.
  • Provide false or materially misleading information during registration, verification or membership.
  • Submit altered, fabricated, expired or misleading documents.
  • Misrepresent their experience, references, qualifications or training.
  • Misrepresent their insurance status, policy scope or geographical cover.
  • Claim to hold insurance for a country, territory or activity where appropriate cover has not been confirmed.
  • Create false, manipulated or retaliatory reviews or feedback.
  • Engage in payment fraud, chargeback abuse or misuse of The Guardians Tribe membership or referral systems.
  • Manipulate the referral programme or create accounts for the purpose of generating improper referral rewards.
  • Create additional accounts to bypass restrictions, suspensions, bans or verification requirements.
  • Engage in phishing, hacking, impersonation or other attempts to obtain unauthorised access to accounts or information.
  • Deliberately conceal information that would materially affect another member’s decision to enter into a guardianship stay.

12.2 Insurance & Verification Misrepresentation

Insurance and trust-and-safety verification rely on members providing accurate and genuine information.

Members must not:

  • Submit false or altered insurance certificates or policy documents.
  • Deliberately omit relevant geographical restrictions or exclusions when providing insurance information.
  • Represent themselves as insured after a policy has expired, been cancelled or materially changed.
  • Use a verification badge or status to suggest broader cover than The Guardians Tribe has verified.
  • Falsely claim that The Guardians Tribe has approved, guaranteed or endorsed their insurance, qualifications or suitability.
  • Provide false or misleading information when responding to a verification request.

Members must notify The Guardians Tribe when previously verified information materially changes.

Where there are reasonable concerns about the authenticity, validity or scope of information supplied, The Guardians Tribe may request additional evidence, remove or amend a verification status, restrict account features or suspend the account while the matter is reviewed.

12.3 Platform & Community Misuse

Members must not deliberately misuse The Guardians Tribe, its systems or its member community.

This includes:

  • Using the platform primarily for unauthorised commercial purposes.
  • Systematically recruiting members for another platform, business or service.
  • Harvesting or collecting member information for external commercial use.
  • Deliberately redirecting members to another commercial platform for the benefit of that platform or service.
  • Using listings, profiles, messages or community areas for spam or unauthorised promotion.
  • Attempting to circumvent platform restrictions or safeguards.
  • Using information obtained through membership for purposes unrelated to genuine participation in The Guardians Tribe.

Members remain free to use other platforms and services independently. This section is intended to prevent deliberate misuse of The Guardians Tribe and its member relationships rather than restrict ordinary personal choice.

12.4 Mutual-Exchange Misrepresentation

The Guardians Tribe operates as a mutual-exchange house and pet sitting platform.

Members must not:

  • Advertise paid house or pet sitting services through The Guardians Tribe.
  • Solicit payment or remuneration for the provision of house or pet sitting through the platform.
  • Misrepresent a paid or commercial arrangement as a mutual-exchange guardianship stay.
  • Use a guardianship listing to obtain substantial commercial labour or services unrelated to normal house and pet care.
  • Attempt to use The Guardians Tribe to facilitate arrangements that fall outside the permitted mutual-exchange model.

Referral commissions operated by The Guardians Tribe are separate from guardianship stays and are not affected by this section where earned legitimately under the referral programme.

12.5 Reporting Fraud or Misconduct

Members who reasonably suspect fraud, deception, serious misconduct or misuse of the platform should report the matter to The Guardians Tribe support team.

Where possible, reports should include relevant information or evidence such as:

  • Screenshots.
  • Messages.
  • Listing information.
  • Dates and circumstances.
  • Relevant documents.
  • Other information that may reasonably assist the review.

Members should avoid confronting another member where doing so may create a safety risk.

Reports will be reviewed in confidence as far as reasonably possible, subject to legal, safeguarding and investigative requirements.

12.6 Investigation

Where The Guardians Tribe receives a report or identifies reasonable grounds for concern, we may investigate the matter.

This may include reviewing:

  • Account information.
  • Listings and profiles.
  • Platform communications.
  • Verification records.
  • Insurance documentation.
  • Referral activity.
  • Relevant reports or complaints.
  • Other information reasonably necessary to determine whether these Terms have been breached.

The Guardians Tribe may temporarily restrict or suspend an account while a serious matter is investigated where reasonably necessary to protect members, pets, property, platform security or the integrity of the community.

12.7 Consequences

Where fraud, deliberate deception or serious misconduct is established, action may include:

  • Removal or correction of content.
  • Removal or amendment of a verification status or badge.
  • Formal warnings.
  • Restriction of platform features.
  • Temporary suspension.
  • Permanent termination of membership.
  • Cancellation or reversal of improperly obtained referral rewards or commissions.
  • Reporting suspected criminal conduct to relevant authorities where appropriate.
  • Legal action where reasonably necessary.

Serious fraud, forged documentation, deliberate insurance misrepresentation, scams, malicious security activity, systematic member harvesting or other serious misconduct may result in immediate suspension or termination without application of the standard three-strike process.

12.8 False or Malicious Reports

Members must not knowingly submit false, fabricated or malicious complaints about another member.

The Guardians Tribe recognises that reports made in good faith may not always be substantiated. A report will not be treated as misconduct merely because an investigation does not ultimately establish a breach.

However, knowingly making false allegations, fabricating evidence or deliberately abusing the reporting process may itself constitute a breach of these Terms.

12.9 Member Responsibility

Members should take reasonable steps to protect themselves and the community by:

  • Communicating through The Guardians Tribe platform where reasonably possible.
  • Reviewing profiles, listings, verification statuses and relevant information before confirming a stay.
  • Asking questions where information is unclear.
  • Checking that insurance is appropriate for the location and circumstances of a guardianship stay.
  • Reporting suspicious behaviour or information promptly.
  • Keeping their own account and verification information accurate and current.

Verification and platform safeguards support informed decision-making but do not remove the responsibility of members to exercise reasonable judgement when choosing who to arrange a guardianship stay with.

13. Third-Party Links, Partners & Services

13.1 Third-Party Links

The Guardians Tribe platform may include links to third-party websites, products, services or resources.

These may include:

  • Insurance providers or brokers.
  • Training and qualification providers.
  • Payment processors.
  • Travel-related services.
  • Pet care services.
  • Technology providers.
  • Social media platforms.
  • Community resources.
  • Other services that may be relevant to members.

Third-party links are provided for convenience, information or access to external services.

13.2 Partnerships & Referral Relationships

Some third-party links or services may form part of a commercial partnership, referral arrangement, affiliate relationship, discount scheme or member benefit offered through The Guardians Tribe.

Where appropriate, The Guardians Tribe may receive a referral fee, commission or other benefit when a member chooses to use a third-party service through an authorised link or partnership.

Any such referral commission or commercial relationship is separate from guardianship stays and does not represent payment for house or pet sitting.

Where required, promotional, affiliate or sponsored relationships will be identified appropriately.

13.3 Independent Third-Party Providers

Unless expressly stated otherwise, third-party providers are independent from The Guardians Tribe.

The Guardians Tribe does not own, operate or control those third-party services.

Any contract for a third-party product or service is normally made directly between the member and the relevant provider.

This may include contracts for:

  • Insurance.
  • Training.
  • Travel.
  • Payment services.
  • External memberships.
  • Other products or services accessed through the platform.

Members should review the third party’s own terms, conditions, privacy information, eligibility requirements and product details before entering into an agreement.

13.4 Insurance Providers

Where The Guardians Tribe provides information about, introduces members to, or offers access to insurance providers or brokers, the insurance provider or broker remains responsible for:

  • Product information.
  • Eligibility.
  • Policy terms and conditions.
  • Pricing.
  • Geographical cover.
  • Exclusions.
  • Underwriting.
  • Policy administration.
  • Claims decisions.

The Guardians Tribe does not underwrite insurance and does not guarantee that a particular insurance product will be suitable for an individual member or guardianship stay.

Insurance verification carried out by The Guardians Tribe is governed separately by Section 9.

13.5 Training & Qualification Providers

The Guardians Tribe may provide links, discounts or introductions to independent training or qualification providers.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, those providers are responsible for:

  • Course content.
  • Assessments.
  • Certification.
  • Fees.
  • Availability.
  • Training standards.
  • Their own terms and services.

The Guardians Tribe may display a qualification or training status on a member’s profile where appropriate evidence has been provided and verified.

Displaying a qualification does not make The Guardians Tribe responsible for the training provider or guarantee the member’s future conduct or competence.

13.6 Third-Party Content & Availability

The Guardians Tribe does not guarantee that third-party websites, products or services will always:

  • Remain available.
  • Remain unchanged.
  • Be suitable for every member.
  • Be accurate or complete.
  • Operate without interruption.
  • Remain available in a particular country or jurisdiction.

Third-party products, eligibility criteria, prices, cover, terms or availability may change independently of The Guardians Tribe.

Members should confirm important information directly with the relevant provider before relying upon it.

13.7 Member Responsibility

When accessing or using third-party services, members are responsible for:

  • Reviewing the third party’s terms and conditions.
  • Reviewing relevant privacy information.
  • Checking suitability for their individual circumstances.
  • Confirming prices, eligibility, geographical restrictions and other important conditions directly with the provider.
  • Taking reasonable care before providing personal or financial information.
  • Raising product or service-specific concerns directly with the relevant provider.

13.8 Third-Party Data Sharing

Personal information will not be shared with a third-party partner merely because a link to that provider appears on The Guardians Tribe.

Where personal information is shared with a third party, this will be done in accordance with applicable data protection law and The Guardians Tribe Privacy Policy.

Members may sometimes choose to provide information directly to an external provider, in which case that provider’s own privacy practices will apply.

13.9 External Service Issues

To the extent permitted by law, The Guardians Tribe is not responsible for loss, damage or problems arising solely from the acts, omissions, products or services of an independent third-party provider.

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where a member experiences a problem with a third-party service introduced through The Guardians Tribe, we may provide reasonable assistance or contact information where appropriate, but responsibility for the external product or service remains with the relevant provider.

13.10 Changes to Partners & Services

The Guardians Tribe may introduce, change, suspend or discontinue third-party links, partnerships, discounts, referral arrangements or integrations from time to time.

The presence of a third-party service on the platform at one time does not guarantee that it will remain available in the future.

14. Changes to Terms & Conditions

14.1 Updates to These Terms

The Guardians Tribe may update or amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

Changes may be made to reflect:

  • Changes in applicable law or regulation.
  • Changes to platform features or membership services.
  • Changes to trust, safety, verification or insurance requirements.
  • Changes to the way the platform operates.
  • Clarifications or improvements to existing provisions.
  • New services, partnerships or member benefits.
  • Community or operational needs.

14.2 Notification of Material Changes

Where a change is likely to materially affect member rights, obligations or use of the platform, The Guardians Tribe will take reasonable steps to notify members before or when the change takes effect.

Notification may be provided through:

  • Email.
  • Platform notifications.
  • Website notices.
  • Account announcements.
  • Other appropriate communication methods.

Where practical, members may be given advance notice of material changes.

14.3 Minor or Administrative Changes

The Guardians Tribe may make minor, administrative or non-material changes without individual notice.

These may include:

  • Correcting errors.
  • Improving wording or formatting.
  • Updating contact details.
  • Clarifying existing provisions.
  • Reflecting changes that do not materially alter member rights or obligations.

14.4 Effective Date of Changes

Unless otherwise stated, updated Terms will take effect from the date specified when they are published.

Where no separate date is stated, changes will take effect when the revised Terms are made available on the platform.

Material changes will not affect rights or obligations that have already arisen before the change where applicable law prevents this.

14.5 Continued Use of the Platform

By continuing to use The Guardians Tribe after updated Terms have taken effect, members agree to be bound by the revised Terms.

If a member does not agree to a material change, they may stop using the platform and request closure of their account.

This does not affect any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14.6 Member Responsibility

Members are encouraged to review these Terms periodically and to read any notices about important changes.

The current version of the Terms will be made available through The Guardians Tribe website or platform.

14.7 Record of Updates

The Guardians Tribe may record the effective date or version date of these Terms so members can identify when they were last updated.

Where appropriate, we may also provide a summary of significant changes.

15. Dispute Resolution & Mediation

15.1Member-to-Member Disputes

Guardianship stay arrangements are made directly between Homeowners and Guardians.

Where a disagreement arises between members, both parties should first make reasonable efforts to resolve the matter through clear, respectful and constructive communication where it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Members should retain relevant communications, photographs, care instructions, agreements or other information that may assist in resolving a disagreement.

15.2 Mediation Before Legal Action

Where members are unable to resolve a dispute directly, either party may contact The Guardians Tribe for reasonable support or guidance.

Depending on the circumstances, The Guardians Tribe may:

  • Review relevant platform information.
  • Provide general guidance about these Terms or platform policies.
  • Help clarify information recorded through the platform.
  • Encourage communication between the members.
  • Take action where a potential breach of these Terms is identified.
  • Recommend independent mediation or professional assistance where appropriate.

The Guardians Tribe is not required to determine which member is legally responsible for a loss, damage or other claim.

15.3 The Guardians Tribe’s Role

The Guardians Tribe is not a party to member agreements and is not legally responsible for member disputes. However, we may, at our discretion, offer limited guidance such as:

  • Helping to facilitate communication.
  • Providing relevant records or platform information (subject to data protection laws).
  • Recommending independent mediation services.

The Guardians Tribe is an introductory mutual-exchange platform and is not a party to guardianship stay agreements made between Homeowners and Guardians.

Providing support, reviewing a complaint, taking disciplinary action or helping members communicate does not make The Guardians Tribe a party to the underlying dispute or guardianship agreement.

Any action taken by The Guardians Tribe under its membership rules is separate from determining civil liability between members.

15.4 Mediation

Where a member-to-member dispute cannot be resolved directly, members are encouraged to consider independent mediation before commencing legal proceedings where mediation is appropriate to the circumstances.

Mediation may be arranged through an independent qualified mediator or another suitable dispute-resolution service.

Unless otherwise agreed, each party is responsible for their own costs associated with mediation.

Participation in mediation does not prevent a member from seeking independent legal advice or exercising legal rights available to them.

15.5 Urgent or Serious Matters

Direct resolution or mediation may not be appropriate where a matter involves:

  • Immediate risk to a person or animal.
  • Suspected criminal activity.
  • Fraud.
  • Theft.
  • Serious property damage.
  • Abuse or threats.
  • Serious safeguarding concerns.
  • Urgent legal remedies.
  • Circumstances where contacting the other party could reasonably create a safety risk.

Members should contact the appropriate emergency service, police, veterinary professional, insurer, legal adviser or other relevant authority where circumstances require it.

Nothing in these Terms requires a member to delay urgent action in order to complete an internal complaint or mediation process.

15.6 Insurance-Related Disputes

Where a dispute concerns an insurance policy or insurance claim, the member should normally raise the matter directly with the relevant insurer or broker.

The Guardians Tribe does not determine insurance claims or coverage disputes.

Where appropriate and legally permitted, The Guardians Tribe may provide information relating to the insurance status or documentation previously supplied to us.

15.7 Complaints About The Guardians Tribe

Where a member has a complaint relating directly to The Guardians Tribe, its platform or membership services, the member should contact The Guardians Tribe support team so that the matter can be reviewed.

We will make reasonable efforts to understand and respond to the complaint.

Members remain free to exercise any statutory consumer rights or other legal remedies available to them.

15.8 Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory rights or protections that apply to a member under applicable consumer law.

Where legally permitted, disputes involving The Guardians Tribe will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Nothing in these Terms removes any right a consumer may have to bring proceedings in another court where applicable law gives them that right.

15.9 Evidence & Platform Records

The Guardians Tribe may retain relevant platform records in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Where reasonably necessary and legally permitted, relevant records may be used to:

  • Investigate complaints or alleged breaches.
  • Respond to lawful requests.
  • Assist with disputes.
  • Establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

The Guardians Tribe will not disclose private member information solely because another member requests it where there is no lawful basis for doing so.

15.10 No Restriction of Legal Rights

Nothing in this Section prevents a member from:

  • Seeking independent legal advice.
  • Contacting an insurer.
  • Reporting suspected criminal activity.
  • Contacting an appropriate regulator or authority.
  • Exercising statutory consumer rights.
  • Taking legal action where entitled to do so.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

16. Termination, Suspension & Account Restrictions

16.1 Grounds for Restriction, Suspension or Termination

The Guardians Tribe may restrict, suspend or permanently close an account where a member:

    • Breaches these Terms or associated platform policies.
    • Provides false, materially misleading or fraudulent information.
    • Supplies false, altered or misleading verification or insurance documentation.
    • Misrepresents their identity, experience, qualifications, references or insurance status.
    • Fails to maintain mandatory insurance requirements.
    • Engages in fraud, scams, deception or dishonest behaviour.
    • Harasses, threatens, abuses or unlawfully discriminates against another person.
    • Misuses member information, listings, messages or platform resources.
    • Uses the platform for unauthorised commercial solicitation, recruitment or promotion.
    • Systematically attempts to recruit or divert members to another commercial platform or service.
    • Harvests or collects member information for external commercial use.
    • Advertises or solicits paid house or pet sitting through The Guardians Tribe.
    • Misrepresents a paid or commercial arrangement as a mutual-exchange guardianship stay.
    • Engages in serious or repeated breaches of trust.
    • Creates duplicate or fraudulent accounts to bypass restrictions or requirements.
    • Attempts to compromise platform or account security.
    • Fails to pay a required membership fee.
    • Repeatedly breaches platform rules after warnings or corrective action.
    • Acts in a way that creates a serious or unreasonable risk to members, pets, property, community trust or the legitimate operation of The Guardians Tribe.

16.2 Types of Action

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue, The Guardians Tribe may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Provide guidance or require corrective action.
  • Issue an informal warning.
  • Issue a formal strike.
  • Remove or amend content.
  • Remove or amend a verification status or badge.
  • Restrict access to particular platform features.
  • Restrict the ability to publish, apply, message or interact with members.
  • Temporarily suspend an account.
  • Permanently terminate membership.
  • Cancel or reverse improperly obtained referral rewards where permitted under the applicable referral programme terms.

The Guardians Tribe may choose the action it considers reasonably proportionate to the circumstances.

16.3 Three-Strike Approach

The Guardians Tribe generally operates a three-strike approach for breaches where warnings and corrective action are considered appropriate.

Three formal strikes may result in permanent termination of membership.

The three-strike approach does not create an entitlement to receive three warnings before serious action can be taken.

Where a breach is sufficiently serious, The Guardians Tribe may suspend or terminate an account immediately.

16.4 Serious Breaches

Serious breaches may include, but are not limited to:

  • Fraud.
  • Forged or deliberately altered documentation.
  • Deliberate insurance misrepresentation.
  • Serious safety or safeguarding concerns.
  • Abuse, threats or serious harassment.
  • Theft or suspected criminal activity.
  • Serious breaches of privacy.
  • Hidden or deliberately undisclosed monitoring devices.
  • Hacking, phishing or malicious security activity.
  • Systematic member harvesting, solicitation or recruitment.
  • Deliberate attempts to divert members for another commercial platform or service.
  • Serious misuse of personal information.
  • Conduct creating a significant risk to a person, animal or property.
  • Repeated deliberate deception.
  • Attempts to evade an existing suspension, restriction or permanent ban.

In such circumstances, The Guardians Tribe may take immediate action without applying the standard three-strike process.

16.5 Temporary Restrictions During Review

Where there are reasonable grounds for concern, The Guardians Tribe may temporarily restrict or suspend an account while the matter is reviewed.

Temporary measures may be used where reasonably necessary to:

  • Protect members, pets or property.
  • Preserve evidence.
  • Prevent further platform misuse.
  • Protect personal information.
  • Protect platform security.
  • Verify insurance, identity or other documentation.
  • Investigate suspected fraud or serious misconduct.

A temporary restriction or suspension does not necessarily mean that a final decision has been made.

16.6 Review Process

Where reasonably appropriate, The Guardians Tribe may:

  • Review relevant account information.
  • Review listings, profiles and platform communications.
  • Review verification and insurance documentation.
  • Review member reports or complaints.
  • Request further information or evidence.
  • Give the member an opportunity to provide relevant information.

The extent of any review will depend on the circumstances and seriousness of the issue.

The Guardians Tribe is not required to disclose information where doing so would breach privacy, data protection, safeguarding, legal or security obligations.

16.7 Notice of Action

Where appropriate, members will be notified if their account is materially restricted, suspended or terminated.

The notice may include:

  • The nature of the action taken.
  • The general reason for the decision.
  • Whether the action is temporary or permanent.
  • Any steps required before reinstatement may be considered.
  • Information about any available appeal process.

The Guardians Tribe may limit information provided where disclosure could create a safety, privacy, security or legal risk.

16.8 Appeals

Where an appeal is offered, the member should submit it within 7 days of receiving notice of the decision unless another period is specified.

An appeal should explain why the member believes the decision should be reconsidered and should include relevant supporting evidence where available.

The Guardians Tribe will review the appeal within a reasonable timeframe.

An appeal does not automatically restore account access while the review is taking place.

The outcome of the appeal will normally represent The Guardians Tribe’s final internal decision.

Nothing in this section removes statutory or legal rights available to the member.

16.9 Reinstatement

A temporarily suspended or restricted account may be reinstated where The Guardians Tribe is reasonably satisfied that:

  • The relevant issue has been resolved.
  • Required corrective action has been completed.
  • Required insurance or verification evidence has been provided.
  • There is no continuing material risk to members or the platform.
  • Reinstatement is otherwise appropriate.

The Guardians Tribe may impose reasonable conditions on reinstatement where necessary.

16.10 Permanent Termination

Where membership is permanently terminated:

  • Access to the platform will end.
  • Active listings may be removed.
  • The member may lose access to platform features and membership benefits.
  • The member must not create another account to bypass the termination.
  • Any treatment of referral rewards or commissions will be governed by the applicable referral programme terms.
  • Personal information will be retained or deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Permanent termination does not remove obligations or liabilities arising from conduct or arrangements that occurred before termination.

16.11 Voluntary Account Closure

Members may close their account at any time through available account settings or by contacting The Guardians Tribe support team.

Closing an account does not:

  • Automatically create a right to a refund.
  • Remove obligations arising from existing confirmed guardianship stays.
  • Remove responsibility for previous conduct.
  • Prevent The Guardians Tribe from retaining information where permitted or required by law.

Any refund rights will be dealt with under Section 6.

16.12 Protection of the Community

The Guardians Tribe reserves the right to take reasonable and proportionate action where necessary to protect the safety, trust, integrity and legitimate operation of the community.

Enforcement decisions will be based on the circumstances and information reasonably available at the time.

Nothing in this section requires The Guardians Tribe to continue providing membership or platform access where doing so would create an unacceptable safety, security, legal or community risk.

17. Platform Availability & Maintenance

17.1 Service Availability

The Guardians Tribe aims to provide a reliable, secure and accessible platform.

However, uninterrupted or error-free access cannot be guaranteed at all times.

Platform availability may be affected by:

  • Scheduled maintenance.
  • Emergency maintenance.
  • Software or infrastructure updates.
  • Third-party service outages.
  • Hosting or network failures.
  • Security incidents.
  • Technical faults.
  • Events outside the reasonable control of The Guardians Tribe.

17.2 Scheduled Maintenance

From time to time, The Guardians Tribe may carry out planned maintenance, upgrades or technical changes.

Where reasonably practical, members may be notified in advance through:

  • Email.
  • Platform notifications.
  • Website announcements.
  • Other appropriate communication channels.

Advance notice may not always be possible where work is minor, routine or urgent.

17.3 Emergency Maintenance

The Guardians Tribe may carry out emergency maintenance or temporarily restrict access without prior notice where reasonably necessary to:

  • Address a security concern.
  • Protect member information.
  • Prevent fraud or misuse.
  • Resolve a serious technical fault.
  • Protect the integrity of the platform.
  • Respond to a third-party service failure.
  • Comply with legal or regulatory requirements.

17.4 Third-Party Service Dependency

Some platform functions depend on third-party technology or service providers.

This may include services relating to:

  • Hosting.
  • Payments.
  • Identity verification.
  • Email or messaging.
  • Security.
  • Analytics.
  • Other platform infrastructure.

The Guardians Tribe does not control the availability of independent third-party systems and may be unable to prevent or immediately resolve outages affecting those services.

17.5 Member Responsibilities During Downtime

Members are responsible for planning appropriately where access to the platform may be important to an upcoming or active guardianship stay.

Where appropriate, members should ensure they have access to essential information outside the platform before a guardianship stay begins, including:

  • Relevant contact details.
  • Pet care instructions.
  • Veterinary information.
  • Emergency contacts.
  • Property access information.
  • Other important agreed details.

Members should not rely on continuous platform access as the only means of obtaining information required during an active guardianship stay.

17.6 Reporting Technical Issues

Members who experience an unexpected technical problem are encouraged to report it to The Guardians Tribe support team.

Where possible, reports should include useful information such as:

  • The feature affected.
  • The approximate time the issue occurred.
  • Any error message displayed.
  • Relevant screenshots or other information that may assist investigation.

17.7 Service Changes

The Guardians Tribe may introduce, modify, replace, suspend or discontinue platform features from time to time.

Where a significant change materially affects the core membership service, reasonable notice may be provided where appropriate.

The removal or modification of an individual feature does not automatically create a right to a refund unless required by law or expressly provided elsewhere in these Terms.

17.8 Limitation of Liability for Availability

To the extent permitted by law, The Guardians Tribe is not responsible for loss, damage, cost or inconvenience arising solely from temporary platform unavailability, maintenance, technical faults or failures of independent third-party services.

Temporary interruption of the platform does not normally entitle a member to compensation or a refund.

Nothing in this section excludes or restricts liability or statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

17.9 Business Continuity & Recovery

Where a significant platform disruption occurs, The Guardians Tribe will take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances to:

  • Protect member information and platform security.
  • Investigate the cause of the disruption.
  • Work with relevant service providers where necessary.
  • Restore affected services where reasonably possible.
  • Communicate material updates to members where appropriate.

The Guardians Tribe does not guarantee a specific restoration timeframe.

18. Force Majeure

18.1 Definition

A force majeure event is an event or circumstance beyond the reasonable control of The Guardians Tribe that prevents, disrupts or materially delays the operation of the platform or provision of membership services.

Such events may include:

    • Fire, flood, earthquake, severe weather or other natural disasters.
    • Wildfires or other significant environmental emergencies.
    • Epidemics, pandemics or public health emergencies.
    • War, terrorism, civil unrest or significant public disorder.
    • Government action, sanctions, restrictions or changes in law.
    • Transport or infrastructure disruption.
    • Widespread power, telecommunications or internet outages.
    • Major failures affecting hosting, technology or other essential service providers.
    • Cyberattacks or serious security incidents.
    • Strikes or industrial action outside the reasonable control of The Guardians Tribe.
    • Other comparable events that could not reasonably have been prevented or controlled by The Guardians Tribe.

18.2 Effect on The Guardians Tribe

Where a force majeure event affects The Guardians Tribe, we will not be responsible for a failure or delay in performing affected obligations to the extent that the failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

This may include disruption to:

  • Platform availability.
  • Member communications.
  • Verification processes.
  • Support services.
  • Payment processing.
  • Other platform or membership functions.

This provision applies only for the period and to the extent that the relevant obligation is affected by the force majeure event.

18.3 Our Response

Where reasonably possible, The Guardians Tribe will take appropriate steps to:

  • Protect member information and platform security.
  • Reduce disruption.
  • Work with relevant third-party providers.
  • Restore affected services.
  • Provide material updates to members where appropriate.

The Guardians Tribe does not guarantee that services can be restored within a particular timeframe where circumstances remain outside our reasonable control.

18.4 Guardianship Stays & Emergencies

A force majeure event may also affect a planned or active guardianship stay.

Examples may include:

  • Wildfires.
  • Flooding.
  • Severe weather.
  • Evacuation orders.
  • Transport disruption.
  • Natural disasters.
  • Public health emergencies.
  • Government restrictions.
  • Serious local infrastructure failures.
  • Other emergencies that make a guardianship stay unsafe, inaccessible or impractical.

Where such circumstances arise, Homeowners and Guardians should prioritise the safety and welfare of people and animals.

Members should communicate with one another as soon as reasonably possible and make appropriate alternative or emergency arrangements where required.

18.5 Emergency Planning

Homeowners and Guardians are responsible for discussing appropriate emergency arrangements before a guardianship stay begins.

Where relevant to the property, pets or location, this should include information such as:

  • Emergency contact details.
  • Veterinary contact information.
  • Evacuation arrangements.
  • Alternative pet-care contacts.
  • Property-specific emergency information.
  • Instructions relating to foreseeable local risks.
  • Authority to obtain urgent veterinary care where appropriate.

Homeowners should provide Guardians with sufficient information to respond reasonably to an emergency affecting the home or pets.

18.6 Member Responsibilities During an Emergency

Nothing in this Section removes a member’s responsibility to take reasonable action where a person or animal is at immediate risk.

A Guardian must not knowingly leave a pet without appropriate care solely because a force majeure event has occurred.

Where a Guardian must leave a property because remaining there would be unsafe or unlawful, they should, where reasonably possible and safe to do so:

  • Contact the Homeowner.
  • Follow agreed emergency arrangements.
  • Take reasonable steps to ensure the pets are safe.
  • Contact an agreed emergency person, veterinary professional or appropriate authority where necessary.

Homeowners remain responsible for ensuring reasonable contingency arrangements are available where circumstances require them.

No member is expected to place themselves in serious danger in order to protect property or continue a guardianship stay.

18.7 Cancellations Caused by Force Majeure

Where a guardianship stay cannot begin or continue because of circumstances genuinely outside the reasonable control of the Homeowner or Guardian, the cancellation will not automatically be treated as misconduct or a breach of the Code of Conduct.

The Guardians Tribe may consider the circumstances when determining whether any warning, strike or other platform action is appropriate.

Members remain responsible for their own travel, accommodation, insurance and other personal arrangements unless otherwise required by applicable law.

18.8 Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, The Guardians Tribe will not be responsible for losses, costs, delays or disruption arising solely from a force majeure event outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in this Section excludes or limits liability or statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

18.9 Relationship With Other Terms

This Section should be read alongside:

  • Section 9: Insurance & Liability Protection.
  • Section 15: Dispute Resolution & Mediation.
  • Section 17: Platform Availability & Maintenance.

Where an emergency also involves an insurance claim, members remain responsible for contacting the relevant insurer or broker and following the requirements of their policy.

19. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

19.1 Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions and the relationship between members and The Guardians Tribe are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

This applies to matters relating to:

  • Membership of The Guardians Tribe.
  • Access to and use of the platform.
  • The interpretation and enforcement of these Terms.
  • The rights and obligations arising between a member and The Guardians Tribe.

19.2 International Members

The Guardians Tribe operates as a global community and members may access the platform from countries outside England and Wales.

Members are responsible for complying with any mandatory laws and regulations that apply to them in their own country or in the country where a guardianship stay takes place.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove mandatory consumer rights or legal protections that apply to a member under applicable law.

19.3 Guardianship Stays

Homeowners and Guardians arrange mutual-exchange guardianship stays directly with one another.

The laws that apply to a particular guardianship stay, property, incident or member-to-member dispute may depend upon the country or jurisdiction in which the relevant circumstances occur.

The choice of England and Wales law governing these Terms does not mean that the laws of England and Wales necessarily govern every private arrangement, incident or dispute arising between members in another country.

Members are responsible for understanding and complying with applicable local laws relating to their individual circumstances.

19.4 Jurisdiction

Where legally permitted, disputes arising directly between a member and The Guardians Tribe will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

However, a consumer may have a legal right to bring or defend proceedings in another jurisdiction under mandatory consumer protection or jurisdiction rules.

Nothing in these Terms removes such a right where applicable law provides it.

19.5 Local Legal Requirements

The Guardians Tribe does not guarantee that participation in a guardianship stay will be lawful or appropriate in every jurisdiction.

Members are responsible for checking requirements that may apply to them, including where relevant:

  • Immigration and entry requirements.
  • Visa or residency conditions.
  • Insurance requirements.
  • Local property or occupancy rules.
  • Animal welfare requirements.
  • Licensing or permit requirements.
  • Other applicable national, regional or local laws.

The Guardians Tribe does not provide individual legal, immigration or visa advice.

19.6 Relationship With Dispute Resolution Provisions

This Section should be read alongside Section 15: Dispute Resolution & Mediation.

Nothing in this Section prevents a member from seeking independent legal advice, contacting an appropriate authority or regulator, or exercising statutory rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

20. Miscellaneous

20.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms & Conditions, together with any policies, rules or documents expressly incorporated or referenced within them, form the agreement between a member and The Guardians Tribe relating to membership and use of the platform.

This may include, where applicable:

  • The Privacy Policy.
  • Cookie Policy.
  • Community standards or Code of Conduct.
  • Referral programme terms.
  • Other policies expressly stated to form part of membership.

These Terms replace previous versions of The Guardians Tribe membership Terms in relation to continued use of the platform from their effective date.

Nothing in this section excludes representations, rights or obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded.

20.2 Severability

If any provision or part of these Terms is found by a court or other competent authority to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision or part will be treated as removed or limited to the extent necessary.

The remaining provisions will continue to apply so far as legally possible.

20.3 Waiver

If The Guardians Tribe does not immediately enforce a right or provision under these Terms, this does not mean that the right or provision has been waived.

A delay or failure to take action in one situation does not prevent The Guardians Tribe from taking appropriate action in the same or similar circumstances in the future.

20.4 Assignment

Membership accounts are personal and members may not assign or transfer their membership, rights or obligations under these Terms except where expressly permitted by The Guardians Tribe.

The Guardians Tribe may transfer or assign its rights or obligations where reasonably necessary as part of:

  • A change in legal or ownership structure.
  • A corporate reorganisation.
  • The future establishment of an appropriate family ownership or trust structure.
  • The transfer of platform operations to another entity under common or successor ownership.
  • Another legitimate business restructuring.

Any such transfer will remain subject to applicable law and will not remove statutory rights available to members.

20.5 No Partnership, Agency or Employment Relationship

Nothing in these Terms or in a member’s use of The Guardians Tribe creates a partnership, joint venture, employment relationship or agency relationship between:

  • The Guardians Tribe and a Guardian.
  • The Guardians Tribe and a Homeowner.
  • A Homeowner and Guardian merely by using the platform.

Guardians and Homeowners participate independently and enter into mutual-exchange guardianship arrangements directly with one another.

Members do not have authority to enter into contracts, make commitments or incur liabilities on behalf of The Guardians Tribe unless expressly authorised in writing.

20.6 Headings

Section titles and headings are included to make these Terms easier to read.

They do not alter the meaning or interpretation of the provisions themselves.

20.7 References to These Terms

References to “these Terms” or “these Terms & Conditions” include any policies or additional terms expressly stated to form part of the membership agreement.

Where there is a conflict between these Terms and another policy incorporated into them, the provision specifically addressing the relevant issue will apply unless otherwise stated or prohibited by law.

20.8 Force Majeure

Events outside the reasonable control of The Guardians Tribe are dealt with under Section 18: Force Majeure.

20.9 Notices & Communications

The Guardians Tribe may communicate important membership, legal, security or platform information through:

Members are responsible for keeping their primary contact information reasonably current.

21. Stay Match Promise

21.1 Overview

The Guardians Tribe offers the Stay Match Promise to give eligible annual members greater confidence when joining and actively using the platform.

If an eligible member does not secure a confirmed mutual-exchange guardianship stay within a full 12-month membership period, The Guardians Tribe may renew their membership for one additional year at no charge, subject to the eligibility requirements below.

The Stay Match Promise is designed to support members who genuinely and actively use the platform as intended.

21.2 Eligibility

To qualify for the Stay Match Promise, a member must:

  • Hold an eligible annual membership with The Guardians Tribe for a full consecutive 12-month membership period.
  • Maintain a fully completed and active profile or listing appropriate to their membership type.
  • Use the platform genuinely and reasonably throughout the membership period.
  • Follow these Terms, community standards and applicable trust and safety requirements.
  • Remain in good standing without serious or repeated policy breaches.
  • Meet the relevant Homeowner or Guardian requirements set out below.

The Stay Match Promise does not apply to free, trial, complimentary or other membership types unless The Guardians Tribe expressly states otherwise.

21.3 Homeowner Requirements

To qualify, a Homeowner must:

  • Publish at least one complete and genuine Homeowner listing during the membership period.
  • Include appropriate photographs of the home, pets and relevant environment.
  • Provide sufficient information for Guardians to understand the home, pets, responsibilities and likely requirements of the stay.
  • Include confirmed dates, approximate dates or genuine intended travel plans where appropriate.
  • Keep their listing available for a reasonable period during the membership year.
  • Respond to genuine Guardian enquiries and messages within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Make reasonable efforts to connect with suitable Guardians through The Guardians Tribe.
  • Maintain required verification and insurance requirements.

Homeowners are not required to accept a Guardian who they reasonably consider unsuitable.

21.4 Guardian Requirements

To qualify, a Guardian must:

  • Maintain a complete Guardian profile or listing.
  • Include genuine photographs and relevant information about themselves and their house and pet care experience.
  • Keep availability, travel intentions and location information reasonably current.
  • Maintain the insurance and verification requirements applicable to Guardians.
  • Apply for or make genuine enquiries about suitable Homeowner opportunities during the membership period.
  • Respond to genuine Homeowner messages or connection requests within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Make reasonable efforts to secure mutual-exchange guardianship stays through The Guardians Tribe.

Guardians are not required to accept a stay that they reasonably consider unsuitable, unsafe or inconsistent with the information provided.

21.5 Confirmed Stay Definition

For the purpose of the Stay Match Promise, a confirmed stay means a genuine mutual-exchange guardianship stay where:

  • The Homeowner and Guardian have agreed the arrangement through or as a result of their connection on The Guardians Tribe.
  • The stay has been mutually confirmed by both parties.
  • The arrangement falls within the permitted mutual-exchange model of The Guardians Tribe.
  • The stay has not been cancelled because of fraud, serious misconduct or a material breach of these Terms by the member claiming under the Promise.

A paid or commercial house or pet sitting arrangement does not qualify as a confirmed stay under the Stay Match Promise.

21.6 Complimentary Renewal

Where The Guardians Tribe confirms that a member has satisfied the Stay Match Promise requirements, the member will receive:

  • One complimentary annual membership renewal.
  • Renewal at the same qualifying membership tier held at the end of the relevant membership period, unless The Guardians Tribe agrees otherwise.
  • A renewal that is personal to the member, non-transferable and has no cash value.

The complimentary renewal is provided instead of a cash refund.

21.7 Exclusions

The Stay Match Promise will not apply where:

  • The profile or listing is materially incomplete, inaccurate or misleading.
  • The member does not maintain required verification or insurance.
  • The member leaves their profile or listing inactive for substantial periods without reasonable cause.
  • The member repeatedly fails to respond to genuine messages or enquiries.
  • There is little or no genuine platform activity.
  • The member makes no reasonable effort to seek or secure suitable stays.
  • The member repeatedly declines suitable opportunities solely to preserve eligibility for the Promise.
  • The member materially breaches these Terms, community standards or safety requirements.
  • Fraudulent, abusive, spam or manipulative behaviour is identified.
  • The member misuses the platform for unauthorised recruitment, solicitation or member diversion.
  • A qualifying confirmed mutual-exchange guardianship stay was secured during the membership period.

21.8 Reasonable Choice & Suitability

The Stay Match Promise does not require members to accept arrangements that are unsuitable for their circumstances.

Members may reasonably decline an opportunity because of factors including:

  • Pet care requirements.
  • Property conditions.
  • Safety concerns.
  • Location.
  • Travel practicality.
  • Accessibility.
  • Household arrangements.
  • Family circumstances.
  • Insurance limitations.
  • Other reasonable personal considerations.

The Guardians Tribe will consider overall genuine participation rather than requiring members to accept every opportunity offered.

21.9 Fair Use & Review

The Guardians Tribe may review relevant platform activity when assessing eligibility under the Stay Match Promise.

This may include:

  • Profile and listing completeness.
  • Messaging and response activity.
  • Applications and enquiries.
  • Listing activity.
  • Confirmed stays.
  • Verification and insurance status.
  • Relevant account or policy history.

The review is intended to establish whether the member has genuinely and reasonably participated in the platform during the qualifying period.

21.10 Making a Claim

A member wishing to rely on the Stay Match Promise should contact The Guardians Tribe following completion of the relevant 12-month membership period.

The Guardians Tribe may request information reasonably necessary to assess eligibility.

Claims must be made within the timeframe stated by The Guardians Tribe or, where no timeframe is separately stated, within a reasonable period after the qualifying membership ends.

21.11 Changes or Withdrawal

The Guardians Tribe may amend, suspend or withdraw the Stay Match Promise for future memberships.

Where a member is already within an active qualifying membership period, eligibility will normally be assessed according to the version of the Stay Match Promise applicable when that qualifying period began, unless a change is required by law or is more favourable to the member.

21.12 Nature of the Promise

The Stay Match Promise is a membership benefit and does not guarantee that a particular Homeowner or Guardian will be available or suitable.

It does not guarantee that a member will secure a stay.

The Promise provides the complimentary renewal described in this Section where the qualifying conditions are met.

22. Acknowledgment & Acceptance of Terms

22.1 Acceptance

By creating an account, purchasing or activating a membership, or continuing to access or use The Guardians Tribe, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and any policies expressly incorporated into them.

  • Insurance verified for a Guardian’s country of residence may not provide cover in another country.
  • Guardians are responsible for confirming appropriate geographical and activity-specific insurance before accepting an international guardianship stay.
  • Any insurance status displayed by The Guardians Tribe reflects only the cover we have been able to verify and does not guarantee that an insurer will accept a future claim.
  • Homeowners must maintain the insurance requirements applicable to them under these Terms.
  • Members are responsible for complying with applicable laws, immigration requirements, insurance requirements and other legal obligations relevant to their individual circumstances.
  • Verification, reviews, insurance statuses, qualifications and other trust indicators support informed decision-making but do not guarantee the conduct, suitability or future performance of another member.
  • The Guardians Tribe may restrict, suspend or terminate membership where these Terms are breached, including in cases involving serious misconduct, fraud, deliberate insurance misrepresentation or misuse of the community.
  • Referral commissions and rewards offered by The Guardians Tribe are separate from guardianship stays and do not constitute payment for house or pet sitting.

22.3 Responsibility for Staying Informed

Members are responsible for keeping their account information reasonably current and for reviewing material updates to these Terms where notified.

Where insurance, verification or other information displayed on a member’s profile changes, the member must notify The Guardians Tribe where required under these Terms.

22.4 Statutory Rights

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or removes any statutory rights or legal protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.

22.5 Final Agreement

These Terms, together with any policies or additional terms expressly incorporated into them, form the agreement governing membership and use of The Guardians Tribe.

By continuing to use the platform, you agree to comply with these Terms and to participate in The Guardians Tribe community honestly, responsibly and in accordance with its mutual-exchange model.
